The Entropy Church is an idea, a narrative device, or maybe just a bit of worldbuilding. In short, I imagine a church, or a temple, at the end of everything. Existing in the last fraction of time before the heat death of the universe. Entropy. Forever frozen, holding vigil over this last piece of existence.
The idea is that, throughout the existence of the universe, there have been countless immortal beings, entities, or even ideas and concepts that, now that there is nothing left to experience, desperately want release from their own lives, to finally be at rest.
That is why the church was built. We do not know by whom or when; maybe it has always existed. In this church resides a creature, the librarian. The librarian holds the power to guide anyone who comes to the temple towards oblivion. But he asks a tribute of those who come to him: a story. A final piece of themselves they will have to leave behind, for the caretaker to record and add to the library at the end of time.
I wanted to explore different concepts with this. Who could visit the temple? What would they choose to share, having existed for probably a very long time? What memories would they deem good enough to enshrine in the library?
